6th June 2025 / On a beautiful drizzly “Pacific Northwest Day, with umbrellas over our heads, next to the warmth of the fire, on bended knee, Ant asked his best friend Naomi to marry him. She cried happy tears, laughed and said YES!!
The imperfectness of the scenario for most couples, was the perfect magical setting for us. We’re not traditional, we’re artists, seekers of wonder over normality, lovers of nature in all its hues. We see beauty in the imperfect. A philosopher and poet.
We often joke we met scrolling down on FB Marketplace. In 2019, Naomi and her boy Torin, came to buy some timber, from my fledgling timber business. She stroked all the timber. I told her she had to buy those pieces now.
We hit it off right away , but danced closely with each other the last 6 years, deeply learning about each other’s most lovable and annoying quirks, while co-raising a teenager.
We have chosen each other. We have chosen the journey ahead together. We are choosing to join the Skilton and Aitken families. Our son Torin, dubbed us Skaitken.
The Skaitkens are just getting started and we look forward to continuing to love and build with each other, even if we have creative differences, for the rest of our lives.
